The difference between carbon steel seamless steel pipe, straight seam welded steel pipe and spiral welded steel pipe

Time : 2023-05-16

SEAMLESS PIPE

A seamless pipe is a long strip of steel with a hollow section and no seams around it. Seamless steel pipe is a steel pipe without seams, which is formed by hot rolling or cold drawing. It is characterized by good pressure bearing.

STRAIGHT SEAM WELDED STEEL PIPE

Welded steel pipe, also known as welded pipe, is a steel pipe made of steel plate or strip steel after crimping and welding. It can be divided into two types: straight seam welded and spiral seam welded steel pipes. As an inappropriate example, if you roll a rectangular white paper into a tube, and then weld the edges, it will be a straight seam welded pipe. If you roll it obliquely and then weld it, it will be a spiral seam welded steel pipe. The production process of welded steel pipe is simple, the production efficiency is high, there are many varieties and specifications, and the strength is generally lower than that of seamless steel pipe.

SPIRAL WELDED PIPE

The strength of the spiral welded pipe is generally higher than that of the straight seam welded pipe, and the welded pipe with a larger diameter can be produced with a narrower billet, and welded pipes with different diameters can also be produced with the same width billet. But compared with the straight seam pipe of the same length, the weld length is increased by 30~100%, and the production speed is lower. Therefore, most of the welded pipes with smaller diameters adopt straight seam welding, and most of the large diameter welded pipes adopt spiral welding.
